braving the gallows

I was hardput to choose between two historic quotes today, both on the subject of hypocrisy. Lately, I've had a real fascination with quotes, so we might be seeing a lot of them in coming days. The first one I found really covers the situation the US is in right now.
A conservative government is an organized hypocrisy.
Benjamin Disraeli, Speech in the House of Commons, Mar. 3, 1845
British politician (1804 - 1881)
But, the other quote I found really covers the subject matter of my post.
Hypocrisy is the homage which vice pays to virtue.
Francois de La Rochefoucauld
French author & moralist (1613 - 1680)
Last night I cooed eloquent over 2 photographs my sister sent us. Unfortunately, because of new child pornography laws (considerately written by Foley & Co.) I cannot legally post the originals online. Because, horror of horrors, the pictures are of my infant niece during her bath. So, taking the advice of several commentors, I cropped one of them:

Though, if you've read even a synopsis of the new laws, you'll realize that I am (in fact) still in violation of said legislation. Joy. Ohwell. But, since the Republicans can't seem to get it together enough to prosecute their own, I doubt they'll come after me. Especially since the whole point of this picture is to prove that I have the cutest niece ever.

The yarn I have for my niece's little knit dress is Rowan Soft Baby in meadow and JoAnn's Bellezza Dolcetto in pink, both are single ply wool/nylon/cotton blends. They knit up at around 5 sts/ inch and I think will make an adorable baby dress. And since I have, combined, 200 grams, I might just take up TheBon's generous offer to puruse her Debbie Bliss books - which I covet, but refuse to buy. The temptation would be too great.

I'm thinking that, for D's sweater, I'm just going to rip out the blanky I was knitting for him. I bought Curious George flannel and matching fleece to sew a blanky - and I doubt he'll want a knit one, too. The question now is, cardigan or pullover? I'm also trying to decide between saddle-shoulder (cables!) and yoke...

Oh, nonono, Tamara! I'm putting off knitting the Karaoke mermaid top as long as I possibly can. I've sworn (to myself) that I am going to finally design my own lace shawl, and it scares me. Ieee. And Catholics totally don't have the market cornered on guilt. They have to share with the Jews and Greek Orthodox as far as I know ;D

Lemme see, lemme see. I just finished dusting, sweeping, and vacuuming. Emm can handle the mopping. I hate mopping. It's supposed to be a cleaning day, bleh.

And, as a final "I am insane" note... I have volunteered and been accepted (how crazy is that?) to make a photo tutorial of how to cast-on 2 socks on 2 circulars using a Clover mini-circular needle for Socktoberfest. I need to get onto that. I need to figure out what the hell I'm going to write/ photograph.

Oy.
